Hello,

This is my first message on the board (and a desperate one). I'm dealing with annoying issues since I bought my MINI convertible 2006 three years ago.I've read a lot of things about low speed resistor fan, but other problems are somehow linked to that...
Here's what's wrong :
- When the car gets hot, the high speed fan turns on
- When stopping the car and the high speed fan is on, the fan will stays on until the car is cool enough
- The A/C triggers the high speed fan
- The wipers turn on when the high speed fan is on. So you can see the MINI waving you bye bye as you walk away from it...
- The wipers turn on when the fog light is switched on
- The turning signals are also triggered by the high speed fan

I've checked the fuses, the relays and the levels.
Has anyone ever experienced such problems?
Replacing the resistor will certainly solve the low/high speed fan issue, but I suppose it will only mask the other problems.

Check Body computer connectors ,right passenger side.Most of cars have connectors issues due to the water infiltration in this area.

I've checked the Body Control Unit and its connectors. Everything looks fine; no visible water damage. I don't know how I can test it any further.

Note 1 : the problems have always been the same. No random behaviour/new symptoms.
Note 2 : wipers are triggered by the fog light control, but the fog light is unimpacted by the wipers. Same for the wipers vs fan.

 

Disconnect Body computer , remove cover and look inside at main board,can be corroded.

 

Thanks for your response. No, it's not corroded, but I cannot say that the unit is not faulty.

It's likely that there are 2 different problems :
1/ the low speed fan is not working at all. I need to change the resistor (as suggested by other threads)
2/ there's a problem with wipers/fog lights/fan. I did some more research on a ground fault. Looking at https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/r...dapter/wBJOp6D, it looks like all the issues are linked to that ground connection (X175). This would explain why the battery won't last long.

I'm going to clean that and see what happens.
