Valve stems, seals, guides, and cam replacement

There's not a lot of info on replacing these parts. ECS seems to have an acceptable tool for a reasonable price considering the BMW tool is $2,000. The Bentley manual might have something for details, but it's at home at the moment and any person with experience would be appreciated. I won't do this repair for 6 months anyway.

If you need a Genuine tool I can usually find it with those tool part numbers in the TIS.

On an R50 you are wasting time and money trying to do the seals on the car. The W10 engine is really bad about wearing out valve guides so you need to pull the head and do the guides and valve stem seals as that will be an actual fix. We do these all the time and you will want to do a valve job at the same time as they are common to burn valves.
You can do the job without any special tools as long as you can find a way to lock the cam to remove the bolt and tighten it back up later.

Thank you both! I'll dig into my manual later today, but I would figure I need the special clamp tool to remove the valves.
