Has anyone else experienced pinging under acceleration ? Could it be this 91 octane swill that us California owners use ?

We have used all 3 types of Octane available - in both MINIs and we have not experienced any pinging at all. It may have been a bad batch of gas you bought?

I have not heard any pinging either, but then with the whine of the supercharger, the exhaust, and the radio how would you expect me to hear a ping

No ping and I buy my gas at Costco (the cheapest I have found around San Diego east county).

Like Donna said, probably a bad tank of fuel....drive it out and fill up again somewhere else and see if you get the same ping.

I'm going to Costco tomorrow, maybe I'll try it out. On the other hand, I'll be up at Infineon Raceway on Saturday, maybe a few gallons of Sunoco 100 will find their way to my tank.

I had that once after eating a questionable burrito in Modesto, but by the time I reached Phoenix it was all behind me.

 

2 years of CA91 in my MC, and never a ping...

 

So what's happening at Infineon this weekend?

Nothing I know of. I'm going to Wine Country Motorsports to pick up some Christmas gifts, and maybe another pair of Piloti driving shoes.
