Preferred Spark Plug

2016 Countryman S All4 turbo auto trans N18

I've dug around on the net and have seemed to narrow down the available spark plugs to this list...

1) Bosch 9747 OE Fine Wire Iridium
2) Beru OEM 12ZR6SP03
3) NGK 97968 Laser Iridium
Are all Iridiums the same? There is also one listed at MiniMania that is 2x to 4x more expensive. Part No: G2NMK3403

Any advice from the group would be appreciated.

Spark plugs

I went with the beru plugs after having some misfiring and hesitation issue on my 2012 CM base. It’s ran great ever since.

For tuned cars we typically recommend the NGK 1422 spark plugs. They're one step colder.

After a bit more poking around, I think I'm going to go with the stock Bosch 9747. It's a stock N18 engine and they can be had for ~$7/ea from RockAuto. German made plugs for a German made auto

The Austrians (who made this car up to 2016) and the Dutch (who took over production, just love it when you call them 'Germans'....

Yep. Sticking with stock might be best.

I remember a note passed to me by one of my best friends that uses the derogatory term Kr__t to describe some of his best friends and family. said something to the effect....
An American machinist developed a drill that was able to make a hole in a human hair and sent it to the Germans... who drilled a hole in it and sent it back.

What I meant to says is Bayerische Motoren Werke AG. So in my thinking German since every part I've looked at on DWs (new) little pistol says made in Germany. Sorry for any confusion I conveyed. I just think it's a tight, well put together, spiffy, little fun machine with room to toss in some green eggs and ham

Thank you Mikey_T. I had looked all over the net trying to find out precisely where her "new" Mini was made. Many searches finally came to a page that mirrored what you said - VDL Nedcar (contract plant) - on the north side of Born, Netherlands. I have found nothing anywhere on the car that indicates a build location of the Netherlands. Again many of the parts are clearly stamped "Made in Germany". I just assumed that since BMW purchased from Rover Group in 1996, that it was being built in Germany by Germans. Should never assume

1 step colder from base, or jcw? To my understanding jcw's are one step colder already, but I could be wrong.

Both S and JCW are recommended to run the NGK 1422 spark plugs with a tune.
