Navigation Models Radio upgrade

Hello everyone...I have a question for those that have modified or upgraded their radio/media units on their Cooper S or JCW with factory Navigation. The question is:

- Will you loose the rest of the screen purposes? Things like: Settings and other features that are easy to get to and dies not require you to use the BC button just like the non-navigation models.

I've been trolling the idea to modify/upgrade my 2007 Cooper S with either:
- 2012-2013 Cooper S Media System or...
- After Market Radio with Apple Car Play

I know that if I do the after market upgrade I'll more than likely loose the screen purpose and probably only have the speedometer and engine lights response but I want to hear it from those that have done it.

Please; I only want to hear it from those that have done it and will love to have some pictures and maybe video on this crazy idea.

Pioneer, the one with the separated screen. Now I have a cubby hole where original radio was. The base unit for this pioneer went sideways behind the screen where the old Nav sat. Not the best "mod" in the world, but works well.

This is the 2nd generation forum. Your car is a 1st generation Mini (R53).
