2008 R56 Right Mirror Moving While Driving
Recently, I noticed my passenger side mirror moving while I was driving. I thought there must be something loose. Checking it while stopped, the mirror seems solid, no play, no looseness.
Observing the behavior more closely, I noticed that it seems to respond to acceleration: it points up when I press the throttle. It also responds to braking, in that if I'm traveling down the road and the mirror is dancing around, I can step on the brake and the mirror moves significantly less or locks down and stops moving entirely.
Generally, It kind of looks like it's floating. Originally I thought the movement looked like random wind was being buffeted by wind.
The remote adjustment seems to work normally and I can see it influence the "base" position of the mirror even while it's moving on its own.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts or suggestions.

My wife just told me this was happening with hers last week. When I went to look at it, it fell off in my hand! A bit of gorilla glue later, and all is good.
Best take it off before the wind does!

Thanks, Troy. I had just figured out the same thing with mine and came to post that. It was hanging on just at the very top edge which made it hang tight/flat against the backing when observed statically. When I touched it, there was no movement. But when accelerating or driving at speed, it would swing out away from the backing. If only I had about 12" longer arms I could have figured it out while driving. :-)
Strange, simple, solved.
