New R53 Owner!

New owner here! Wanted to say hello. Here’s some pics of my new to me 2002 R53. I picked this up from my father who no longer had a use for it. It is completely stock and has 103k miles. I plan to use this as a daily driver commuter car, I drive 70 miles round trip per day.

5 years ago I was bitten hard by the track day DE bug. I track a C5 Z06 and have done 60 or so days at 9 tracks. I’d like to do some light track prep to the mini to have it as a track option if my C5 is being repaired or if I want to focus more on instructing. I would also like to use it to try some momentum car tracks and learn the nuances of FWD to broaden my instructor skill set.

I will have a lot of questions and appreciate the feedback from places like this and the R53 Facebook group. In the meantime, any maintenance advice you have I would welcome. My father kept up on oil changes, but I suspect there are many service items this needs as it passes 100k

Welcome! Picked up the same exact year and color a few month back, already modifying away in my case. Track days are fun for sure, i love them but really haven't done many of them myself, and never in this Mini...yet . I used my Audis and VW for that in the past. I have already put Coil overs on the Mini, preparation towards track time amd better handling. Enjoy your car!

Thank you for the welcomes and the PMs! I'm already window shopping on ECS, FCP, and WMW. Just also found the old wheeler dealer episode with the 100k mile service, perfect!

Welcome it looks pretty good. We are happy to help and we even did a review of that episode of wheeler dealers long ago so you may want to check it out as it is of course "TV".
