R50/53 Going to get my clutch replaced
Going to get my clutch replaced
My throw-out bearing has been making noise for a few years and is getting louder lately. I am gathering info on what I will buy while my mechanic is in there besides the clutch. My question should I replace the alternator even though it is fine? I have 108K on a 04 'S'
I plan on replacing the serpentine belt, tensioner and idler.
I think a kit would be nice and I noticed Way has a kit but I wouldn't need plugs, so it looks like I will have to purchase each piece separately.

No I wouldn't replace an expensive alternator just because you have the car apart I've seen plenty working with over 200k. But also I don't even go to that side of the engine when I do a clutch.
I just pull the subframe then pull the trans.
So common things I do when I do a clutch:
rear main seal https://www.waymotorworks.com/rear-m...0-r52-r53.html
clutch fork bushings https://www.waymotorworks.com/clutch...-cooper-s.html
Powerflex control arm bushings https://www.waymotorworks.com/powerf...shing-kit.html
P/S lines if any are leaking https://www.waymotorworks.com/r50-53...sure-line.html
Steering rack bushing https://www.waymotorworks.com/powerf...k-bushing.html
front sway bar bushings https://www.waymotorworks.com/powerf...-bushings.html
supercharger inlet gasket https://www.waymotorworks.com/superc...et-gasket.html
Again that is when I pull the trans only. If you are planning on pulling the whole thing engine and trans that would be a bunch of other things I would do as you will have access to much more. I would talk to your mechanic to find out his plan
like supercharger oil change https://www.waymotorworks.com/superc...t-r52-r53.html
oil filter housing gasket https://www.waymotorworks.com/oil-fi...0-r52-r53.html

The supercharger oil change sounds good and the oil filter gasket housing. I will have him check for any leaks. I don't don't know about the ps leaking as the dealer replaced the unit as it was recalled 2 yrs ago. They may have not changed the lines, never the less I will have them check.
