Phil Wicks in July or Sept??

Hello guys -

I've got a club in the Twin Cities and have been talking to Phil to get a track day going for us. In our quest, we saw that Blackhawk Farms has a couple dates scheduled and realized they may work for our club to cruise down.

I guess I'm wondering if you guys would be okay with this and if you knew if anyone from your area was planning on attending either of these dates?

July 2

September 10th

If we can get some MINIs from up North to cruise down and join you guys, maybe we could get a decent sized group.

What do you guys think?!

Adam:

I definitley will try to attend one, or both of the Blackhawk Farms events. I didn't know these were scheduled, but am thrilled. Somehow I dropped off Phil's email list. I've done two of his events at Gateway (Fall 03 & Spring 04) plus the MINI Meet day at Blackhawk. Lots of track time for intermediate and experecinced track people, and great learning for novices.

I don't think he has sent out the email yet but the schedule is up on the Mini Mania site.

Thanks for the replies!

I don't have any solid numbers yet, but it looks we'll have some of us coming down for sure.

any word yet on Phil's email updates?

Mick:

I still haven't seen an email from Phil so I'm thinking I dropped off the list. Do you know if one has been sent this year yet? Any idea if the upcoming Nashville event has any openings for a cold Midwesterner that is thinking of motoring down?

How's the son of Killerbee? You and the wife enjoying the cabriolet?

And I also noticed that the dates for Chicago were off the list... I'll try to call him soon and see what the plan is, if any.

The dates for Blackhawk are off but on 7/34 and 7/24 we are having track days at Autobahn Country Club near Joliet. This is a road course country club and should be a lot of fun at a classy facility.
The new Cabrio Bee is more fun than I deserve but at this time it has a sore bum. It was backed into damaging the rear bumper so I decided to try something new. I'm replacing it with an Aero Kit rearend from a Cooper, cutting a second exhaust opening on the drivers side so I can have a dual exhaust look. I will do a one ball exhaust mod and run a pipe out each of the holes. Hopefully I will have that done before the Feb. 27 track day in Nashville.
I am assuming that you can still sign up for the Nashville date. Go to Phil Wicks Driving Academy site and call the appropriate person to sign up. I hope to see you there.

Thanks for the update Mick! Sorry to hear about the new bee's rear sting, but sounds like you have a great plan at work.

Autobahn is on the schedule now, woo hoo! Silly me printed out the schedule about a week ago and didn't even notice! I was focused on pallning my first event of the year I guess. I know the Chicago Audi club school there this spring sold out in jsut a few days. So far, calendar is open for July so I need to get to that one and try out the new track.

Take care and keep on motoring!

Hey Marco,

Glad you found it. Should be a great time and a new track is always fun! Autoshow was good. I attend every year. Not too many new exciting concepts, but I was impressed by the Smart Car display, the Saturn Sky, and the performance numbers talked about for the Corvette Z06. That will be quite the car.
