Is this a legal rim?

Is the Flik Apex2 wheel (available from from Edge Racing) legal for G-stock? offset is 42mm and they say it's a 16x7.

nope. you can not increase wheel width in stock. has to be 16x6.5 with an offset that is within +- ~6mm from the stock offset

this is off topic, but something I've always wondered about: tolerances and measurements.

Let's say that some company makes a wheel that they call 16 X 6.5, it's even stamped on the wheel. So you buy them, take out a ruler, and the thing is 6.8 inches wide. Is that protestable? Does the SCCA define a way to measure the width of a wheel? Lip to lip? inside edge to inside edge?

What if the wheel is stamped 16 X 7 but really measures 6.5" wide? Is that legal?

Yes, no, no, yes. My understanding, and I may be wrong, is that the width is measured from the inside edge/bead seat.

That would make sense to me.

However, there has to be some "acceptable range" of widths from the factory spec.

I mean, how close to 5.5" wide are my OEM wheels (sorry, I'm talking about my HS car in the GS forum)? What if the OEM spec is 5.5", but the actual OEM wheel that Mini ships the car with measures like 5.55"? Or 5.6" ? Would I be protestable with my OEM rims?

Sorry, I know it's trite, but with it being December and all, it gives me something to think about

Factory rims are legal by definition. But i think there is some language in the rules regarding rounding down to the next regular size increment if the stock wheels are a weird size... 5.6 to 5.5

the Sentra Spec V is one of those cars with the odd size wheels, so all the Spec V drivers use the stock wheels to get the extra little bit of width. It doesn't hurt that the stock wheels are pretty light.

So, what rim is legal, weighs sub 15 lbs and costs sub $150 ?Check out www.nzowheels.com -- the monza wheel is legal for GS , weighs ~14lbs , and the cost meets your requirements.

I have them in white on my MCS and I got them from NZO.
