The End of an Era

It was 5/8/04 when I took delivery of my 2004 Cooper. Drove from Fife, WA to Eugene, OR that day. This was the car that brought me to the woman that would become my wife. Keeping the wife. This is the car that I really learned the joy of driving. The car that I learned to Autocross in; the car that I took to track days. The car that I hit 124 mph in. It's been 15 years 104 days with Constance. She was my daily driver that allowed me to get to work (nearly) everyday so that I could pay my bills. She has been a faithful constant in my life. She has been, for the most part, reliable. But it is time to move on.

She is going to a new home. A coworker's son needs a car for college. She is perfectly suited for this new life with the young man. His eye's were bright with excitement. I will miss her, the car, not the wife, i'm keeping her.

Sounds like you really enjoyed your time with the car! Keeping the R53?

Just because you bought a MX5 doesn't mean you should stop posting here, especially your wife still has the R53. You need to ask nicely if you can take her car to the track. I like MX5 but now my preference is a newer Lotus Exege with SC V6, or a Z08 factory prep race car if I can find a place to store it. Keep us posted how your new relationship with the ND MX5.

Yes. The R53 is technically my wife's car. No accidents, light mods, nearly all the potions. It's a great car. Constance was great as well. It was spend $25K on turning it into a street legal race/track day car or a MX-5 RF GT-S. I opted for the latter. The MX-5 is on order and should be here in about a 6 weeks.

I'd love a Lotus, just a wee bit out of my price range and by a wee bit like $30K more that the MX5. If any of you are looking to buy a new car the car broker I used got me my MX5 that lists for $35600 for $30K, $31K with after the broker fee, tax, license and dealer fees. I'd be more than happy to give you his info.

Thanks. It took me a while to find that old shirt.

She was very good to me and will be missed. I'll be leaving Constance as my signature pic. I still have the 05 S, Cone Dodger or Dodger as we call it. Dodger is gender neutral.

Glad to hear that Constance is going to a good home and to someone who will appreciate her. Make sure you let the new owner know about NAM, so we can keep her in our fold...
