F55/F56 F56 brake pad job
F56 brake pad job
I just got my new brake pads and the install instructions at newtisinfo look pretty good except for this - Renew lining spring. I did not get this item with the new pads and I question the need for replacement. I have not taken anything apart yet because I want to have all needed parts first. So, must I - Renew lining spring ??? Thanks for you help...jim
I got the wheels off and the brakes look to be in great condition with 3/16" left on front pads and 1/4" on rears. Checked service records and found that front pads were replace under warranty about 28k miles ago. Any thoughts on what could be causing false brake wear warning? Can I reset that warning myself? Thanks
My 2015 Mini F56 Justa was making brake squeak noise on the rear left, only when touching slightly. When I do normal braking you would hear the screeching for a second and then the noise goes away with deeper brake use. This doesn't sound like the pads are already worn out, does it? It had about 25k miles on it, so I wouldn't expect the pads to be worn out already. I don't ride brakes, I usually strong jab to avoid any rotor warp and to reduce heat.
Pull the wheel and inspect the pads and rotors for wear and defects. Most good shops will do this for you for free if you don't want to do it. You can run it by Les Schwab, just don't let them do the work if it needs any.
On my F56S, the rears would not have made it to 25,000 miles, but I replaced them early because I wanted higher quality pads.
