Hi everyone
I have Mini cooper s r56 n14 engine 2006 year and its right hand driving(UK). I have the code p2177 which is system too lean at idle and i face with loss of power and more metalic sound from the engine when the car losts the power. But the think is that this happens when i slow down for the speed bump on the hill and trying to pass the speed bump slowly on the hill (means start to moving on the hill) In short, some times the engine cannot generate the enough power ( its just like strangling) but i take gear noutral and pressing the throttle for 4-5 times. Then the engine works normally. This issue comes with more metalic engine sound. By the way, i dont have the issue with cold start about HPFP. I also check the fuel rail pressures when engine works normal and also when this issue happens. For full throttle it around 1650 1700 psi and at idle 650 700 psi. I think HPFP works fine. I suspect for vacuum leaks but i could not find any. Therefore, can it be leaks on PCV system or smt ? What is the possible vacuum leaks on that engine?
If any of the injectors are clogged up, it'll throw that code, too. I found it on my car by surprise when one day I was doing the walnut blasting, at that moment, I took all 4 injectors out and mount them on a jig to check spray pattern, one of them can barely squirt the fuel injector cleaner fluid I pressurized into it.
Anyways, when I had the code for lean idle, I thought it was due for a valve cleaning, turned out one of the injectors was bad, too.
