vibrating steering wheel on SSR wheels

hi guys, i've just installed some SSR Type C wheels (japanese version of SSR Comp) in 16X7.
i had the tires mounted few months ago however due to not having the car i didn't install them until recently. I know that you would probably need some hub centric rings for them to fit properly, but since i got the wheels overseas and it didn't come with it, also that it looks like the wheel fits pretty well on the car.
At first the vibration was really really bad at about 80km/h. Now after having the wheel rebalanced and swaped front and back (i'm thinking it COULD have something to do with the tires, since my last car caught fire in the front with these wheels, and the tires could be damaged, but i probably don't think so)
the vibration is now a lot better. At first i thought the vibration was completely gone but after some more driving i am starting to notice some slight vibration again....... So maybe its due to not having a hub centric ring.
So does anyone know what is the centrebore size of the SSR wheel??
and if the japan spec and the spec in the US the same?? and if they are the same then i could just grab some rings off tirerack since they sell them. I hope that someone can help me (particular Alex ) Thank you.

Eric

It's the MINIs center bore value you need to worry about (56.1 mm); the SSR's must be bigger if the wheels aren't seated properly. Just ask for a set of aluminum hubcentric rings to fit 56.1 mm center bore. Since Tire Rack sell SSRs I'm sure they would sell you a set of rings.

the reason i am asking about the center size of the wheels is because on websites selling those rings, i see it asking the value from what size to what size, so u can get say rings from 70mm to 56.1 mm or 60mm to 56.1 mm ...
is that how it works??
i never used them before so please correct me if im wrong.
thanks.

Most JDM SSR is very diffrent from USDM. I'd need to see a pic of the back of your wheel - most JDM's are not chamfered for rings.

Cany chance you could post a pick looking down across your wheel's centerbore?

I think it's the wheel/tires that are not balanced properly.

If you torque down the lugs in a cross pattern, it should center itself up
quite accurately even without hubcentric rings. Hubcentric rings do
center the wheel, but it's main purpose is to lessen the load off the lugs.

Ive had numerous wheels in the past without hubcentric rings and
they worked fine. In Japan, it is not a requirement to have those rings.

i think the wheel/tires is balanced, at least it should be... becuase i've just did the wheel balanced yestarday in the shop to try fix the problem... and the shop should be pretty good at doing their jobs, seeing many cars like Porsche and Mercedes there (SL55s, 911s, etc) but never know, i might go back to the shop again and ask them.
I will try to take some pictures of the wheels later and post it up.
