Wondering if anyone else has noted the change in performance with outside air changes.

Normally the Turbocharged car does better with cold dense air. It was always pretty noticeable to me. I just came to the realization that my F56 with the Elite actually perks up with warmer temperatures (70F vs. 40F).

I'm no engineering scientist type, but I am guessing it has something to do with the programming of the Elite and how it handles the input from the sensors.

Am I crazy and imaging all this? If it is happening is my logic correct?

Wish I had an answer for you but in my experience colder, more dense air creates more HP. That's nothing new and the reason drag racers use ice to enhance that process. I'm going to make the assumption that you have a CAI. Is it open to the engine compartment or does it pull cooler air from outside your Mini?

 

I have not noticed that but i did notice that with an F56 S Stock on a cold engine and normal/cooler temp intercooler it seems to have more perk. Then when the engine warms up and you set for a while the IC seems to get a little warm from the engine bay and rad. My guess is that it might read the temps and if its warmer the dinan might boost a hair more to compensate? I guess if you have a logger hooked up you could see boost levels.

 

No CAI, only a dry after market panel filter. The car is just more anxious to go on warmer days.
