2003 R53 w/ stock HK sound system.

When I bought the car, the amp was dying. And then it died. And then I bought a "known good" unit from random eBay seller. And now, I still don't have any sounds. Here's where I need your help.

The system with eBay amp does not produce sound when using the Schwaben scan tool, CD, or FM radio. The 15A and 5A mini-fuses are good. The system doesn't produce any "thump" or other sounds when connecting and disconnecting the eBay amp with the key on. I grabbed the multi-meter and made a few measurements:

• Pin 5 +12VDC input = 12.14VDC
• Pin 10 +12VDC remote = 10.57VDC
• Pin 26 DC Ground =
  • conductivity between grounding bar next to amp mount,
  • conductivity to battery
  • .6Ohms to grounding bar next to amp mount
• Pin 27 KBus = 11.35VDC
• Pin 9 HU Input FR+ to Pin 17 HU input FR- = .1-.3VAC
• Pin 30 HU Input FL- to Pin 38 HU input FL+ = .3-.7VAC

Questions:

1. Is 10.57 sufficient for the remote/turn-on lead signal?
2. Are the HU input measurements within spec?
3. At this point, if Q1 and Q2 are yes then everything upstream of the amp is good and it's possible that I bought a bum amp fro eBay.

Problem solved. . . bought amp from @burley and the Mini has tunes again. . . . until it doesn't. It's back to putting miles on the car until the next electro-mechanical adventure begins.

 

Is the ebay seller going to make things right with you about the amp you bought from them??
