Stock Stereo Swap

Hello,
The stereo works but the bezel does not light up. I've removed a stereo from a wrecked car but now I'm told I have to enter a code to make it work in my car, any truth to that?

I just replaced mine yesterday with one from a wrecking yard. It was identical as near as I can tell. I did not do any programming or coding. After 2 drives the new stereo seems to be working normally. I've tried aux but not a CD yet. I replaced the display and the speedometer also. It has not thrown any codes yet. I bought mine, along with a nice driver's seat, for $225 from Euroline Auto Parts in Rancho Cordova, California. The guy was great to deal with.
