Largest tire size without rubbing? 245/40 17?? anyone tried
Has anyone tried to go to wider tires on their 17" wheels, I recently picked up some 17x9, offset 45 wheels and wanted to put some big rubber on them, was thinking about going to a 245 40/17. Anyone out their tried anything wider than a 215? Might have to go with some aesthetic flares and cut the arches to make them fit, has anyone installed these, they look nice in the video, flares here https://keepitaesthetic.com/products...nt=17697889863 Video here

I think you will be in trouble with the wheel moreso than the tire. With only a et45 on a 9" rim they will be inboard an extra 3/4 inch or so...will put that wider tire right into the struts I bet.
Play with this: https://www.tire-size-calculator.inf...&2ww=9&2off=45
That 'wide-body' flared look will need actual AGGRESSIVE fitment. et45 is not that, ever. Maybe a 17x9 et20 or something + flares.

I have already played with the tire calculator, according to the calculator using the 205/45/17 to 245/40/17, the factory wheel offset is 48, new ones are 45, the wheel will sit a little over 3/4"(20mm) closer to the strut and stick out an additional .7" (18mm) I was thinking 1/2" (13mm) spacer should do the trick. With the spacer the tire will only be .2" (5mm) closer to the strut but will stick out an additional 1.25" (21mm) which could be a problem with fender contact
