Front spoiler-vs-truck re-tread

Was behind a truck when a 3 foot log re-tread flew up. I couldnt swerve so I took it dead on. It ripped the front spoiler off. Had the dealer look at it and they said it would be $700 + parts labor since some portion of the radiator support bracket cracked also.

It is not covered under ins so I was wondering if there are any spoilers aftermarket that may look a bit cooler than the stock black strip. It is an 03 so I dont know if newer flared type stock will fit.

Any ideas appreciated

Not covered under insurance? I can see that due to the size of your deductible, but I would think damage like that would be covered, just like if a deer ran out in front of you and damaged your spoiler.

I don't know the details of your situation, but I would consider getting a better policy.

Yeah, I had the same thought. Have you checked with your insurer?

Be sure to take some pictures, too.

You can get stock bumper covers for 100 dollars or less. thats the whole lower bumper and spoiler.Already painted from people who have installed aero kits. Check out market place forum, and E-bay. Would'nt be suprised if your dealer has a few floating around

Why would it not be covered under insurance, unless you do not have collision/comprehensive?

In some states you can hold the car/truck that caused the damage responsible for repair costs. In Virginia if a rock flips up from a truck tire and hits you windshield, his insurance is responsible for the fix. This of course assumes that you have the presence of mind to get the tag number or other identifiers. Most people don't as they qare usually busy controling the car to a safe stop.

Good luck

Good suggestions all. It would be covered but I have a Dodge Ram also so I run with $500 deductible so it is not a great savings and may jack the rates up. I didnt get the truck number, happened fast.

Thanks

I had the same thing happen earlier this year, by the time the repairs was finished it came to $2100, so I suggest that you get your insurance involved.

Usually they do not see all the damage until they take it apart, original estimate was $1100 before they took it apart.
