Four extra rims/tires in the back?

Is this possible for 16" rims?

Yes, I've done it with my rear seats folded down.

even 8 will fit

I've done 4 mounted and 4 unmounted 205/50-16. You should have seen the look on the tire store guys face, when I said I didn't have to leave the car for him to swap rims and tires. "No way that 8 tires fit in that thing"

The child seat anchors in the rear seat area make good tie down points.
