Convertible top rubbing on back of rear seats when lowered

I purchased an early 2005 cabrio. The convertible top functions but it rubs against the back of the rear seats when lowered. It is a fun car and I would love to drive with the top down, but the rubbing is fraying the fabric where it wraps around the forward end of the frame. See pictures. I have searched the forum and haven't found any descriptions of a similar problem. Any suggestions on what I should do?

thanks,

Wow! Wish I could help. I can’t believe no one has chimed in on this. Has to be an adjustment issue. Would suggest you leave the top up until you figure this out.

This makes me think that the back seats some how got pushed back.

The ECS guy that monitors NAM has a vert and would think he will be here tomorrow. He has like 300k on his so if it has to do with the top, he most likely knows.;

Thanks Whine not walnuts, I was away for the week, just saw this. That link above is for the adjustment. Were you able to do that?

Thanks for the responses. I have had some phone problems and not gotten on the website for a few days. Sorry it has taken me so long to review your responses.

Hotairgyps, the link you provided takes me to a page that describes how the sensors on the convertible top work. Do you think this is a sensor problem? I am not certain what I am supposed to learn from the link. I would appreciate some additional explanation.

Thanks

Here are articles relating to servicing the top: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/r...nvertible-top/
There are several articles on adjusting the top.

Specifically regarding fraying of the top, it was a common problem in 2005 and the fix is described here:
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/r...le-top/3Zbv6xc
In general, working on the convertible top is not a simple task.
