Facelift taillights into a pre-facelift car

Hi: Trying to put 05/06 tail lights into my 04. Have the lights; need the harness. Does anyone know whether the 05/06 cars retained the pre-facelift main harness and then added the retrofit harness (p/n 63210309436) or whether the main harness was modified? In other words, if I have an 05/06 car from which to salvage the necessary parts will the retrofit harness be in there? Thanks.

Looking to do this same mod. So far the best DIY info I've seen is here:

Though I admit I came here to search a bit to see if there were any pics of this job being performed.

Car companies will save every penny possible. That means they will never build a harness that requires an adapter unless the vehicle is very low product number. So the short answer is no.

Guess why I wasted a few hours of my life trying to find a pin insert for this stinking Delphi connector. It is missing one contact because it is a German motorhome and the European trailers do not rely on the tow vehicle to send proportional braking signal.

Well, I just followed the writeup I posted the link to and my car now has white brake lights and red reverse lights. lol

I followed every step to the letter aside from wiring the reverse light to be the rear fog (waiting on my red lens).

Update: The lights had been repinned at some point in the past. Got it all sorted out.

I'm going the reverse route.....putting my old '04 R53 tail lights into my '06 R52......I'll have to swap a couple wires around in the cars harness, should be easy fix.....I have the tools to remove the wires.....

Bryan

PS: the rear tail light pigtail harness is available aftermarket from anyone that carries Dorman products.....I don't have the part number handy, but the price is about $18
