Adaptive Cruise Control

For those that have adaptive cruise control, does this feature share the same camera as the auto windshield wipers? Or are they seperate cameras?

I recently purchased a deeply discounted, barely used 2018 CM SE. It was advertised as fully loaded and includes every package and option except for adaptive cruise control. I am wondering if I have the necessary hardware for ACC and it could be enabled via a software update? (If that's even possible). Or maybe ACC wasn't available until 2019 models?

So many questions, sorry!

I.ve had acc in my F56 in 2014 and have it in my 2017 F60. You won't have the camera needed if you ask me. As far as i know windshield wipers don't use a camera but a different sensor. But maybe you will have camera for pedestrian protection. Look on your windshield if you have a camera at all.
ACC is one of the most important options for me. So i only looked for one with acc. Works like a charm even in start stop situations.

Here’s what I don’t understand, if I build a new CM on mini website, the only way to get adaptive cruise control is by selecting the driver assistance package which also includes front park distance, parking assistant, and mini head-up display. My CM has front park distance, parking assistant, and mini head-up display but not ACC. How is this possible?

I believe it used to be a standalone option. It's now only available when coupled with other options, since MINI moved to packaged trim lines for the 2019 models. The easiest way to tell if you have ACC is to look for the additional distance buttons on the steering wheel.

It can be configured depending on the country. I was sure I had the option together with the driver assistance package, until I received the car. Unfortunately the ACC option was a separate option and my dealer missed it.
So i’m Missing just the 2 buttons on the right side of the steering wheel! Retrofit may be possible but We need somebody with such knowledge.
Anyway I’m reading in various mini forums that the system does not work as it should because it’s missing radar sensors. Especially in countries with lot of sunlight like mine!

I like the ACC option, and for me, it works well. Unfortunately, I live in MA, and people here don't drive in a way that allows me to take advantage of ACC.
