2010 R56 - Passenger Rear Brake Squeak in Reverse

Daughter texted me -- her beloved "Gus Gus"'s brakes are squeaking only when backing -- only the passenger rear side.

Gus Gus is 2010 Mini Cooper S "Mayfair" Edition (R56).

We just purchased car for her this spring (27k miles) -- dealer replaced tires and rotors/pads before we picked up the car. Dealer is very reputable place (major dealership and we've bought several cars there) -- so I'm really confident that work was done correctly (I can see the brand new rotors/pads).

I'm out of town for week and want to make sure order any parts may need before trying to get her to stop moving for 30 secs this weekend so I can work on car. Caliper rebuild needed? - but only 27k miles? any ideas? Something needing adjusting after new brakes/rotors installed?

Any ideas on what may be going on with passenger rear brake that only squeaks when in reverse?

Thanks
Chris

Warranty on the car? Take it back to the dealer.

Have you ever worked on MINI rear brakes before? You need special tools to reset the caliper pistons because the parking brake use the primary pads for braking action; MINI doesn't use a separate "parking brake" pad on the inside of the rotor like you see on some cars. So if you have a squeak, it's the primary pad.

Your first step (if the dealer doesn't stand behind their work) should be to get a Bentley service manual and start reading.

MINI OEM brake pads suck! They wear very quickly, and they throw dust everywhere. I've been very satisfied with the aftermarket brake items from ECS Tuning!

Here's what I purchased back 3 years ago this month; I have 30K miles on these pads now, and at their current wear rate, I'll bet I get 75-100K miles out of them. They are great! I'd buy the same parts again in a heartbeat.

I'm not sure if the "S" car brakes are larger diameter, but ECS Tuning will still be able to hook you up.

Thanks for info on oem pads! Im also rebuilding an R52 and as researching all various gaskets etc amazed when hear someone say only buy Mini OEM - my thought is yeah not buying cheapest chinese prodcut out there BUT if Mini OEM so awesome why did dang gasket blow after only x miles.

Used car so no warranty.

Actually already have both manuals - Gen 1 (wife conv project) & Gen 2 (daughter mini) - they arw great addition to this forum and youtube videos!

I have that piston tool already (various other cars) - so likely just take it all apart this weekend and grease up slides etc and see if that works.

What has me stumped is only in reverse squeak
