Cost to re-ring short block
I am shopping around to get the best price from Houston machine shops. I have stripped an N-14 down to the short block (crank and pistons still intact) and need to get new rings and have the crank tolerances checked.
I was recommended to a local shop by the local Mini dealer but the quote to do this $850 (labor only - I'm to bring in my own parts!)
Is this typical for just a re-ring? It sounds REALLY high.
What prices are others getting for this work?
