I am looking to buy new wheels and tires for my stock 2003 Mini cooper. What do the numbers like 4 x 100 offset # etc etc mean? Also on the tires what do the numbers mean on those too ? I am looking at some Konig Imagine 17" and maybe 18" if It can fit on it? Can 18" clear the wheel wells?

4x100 is the bolt pattern for the wheel, it has no relations to the tire, basically it always needs to have 4 holes, and all the bolts must be 100 mm across diagonally... so 4x100 is the only bolt pattern u can put on

offset is how far the wheel is away from the hub, i believe for the mini u can get 40-48 offset without rubbing on 17s,

18s im not too sure, but i've seen quite a few people with them without problems, even lowered and still no problems... rubbing relates more to tire shape, tire size and offset than actual size (of course if u got 20 inchers then that's a tad different)

 

Also make sure the center bore is 56.1mm diameter. If not, ask to have
centering rings to make your wheels hubcentic to 56.1mm.

Here are some other numbers you'll want to remember when deciding wheels:

Size: 17x7 or 17x7.5 will work
Offset: +42 to +48mm will work
Center Bore: 56.1mm
Bolt Pattern: 4x100
Tire size: 205/45/17 would be optimum, but people use 215/40/17 and
215/45/17 with much success (might rub on some tires).

205 = 205mm in width
45 = sidewall aspect ratio which is 45% of the width of tire.
17 = inch of the wheel's diameter.

18's, you'll probably want 18x7 or 18x7.5
same as above except tires will be 205/40/18 or 215/40/18 range.
