I am looking at ordering a Thule roof rack for my '02 Cooper S, and if anyone has installed the same Thule Traverse foot pack with Fit Kit 1366 on their hardtop. The biggest thing I am wondering is if I absolutely need the short roof adapter or if I can manage without it. I dislike the look of the short roof adapter and have seen other MINIs without it. Thoughts?
I installed the very setup you are referencing. Yes - I highly highly recommend the short roof adapter. Without it, you are going to destroy the front clamp and most likely dent the roof with any weight > 25 pounds or so.
