Winter Tires

Okay I need to get some winter tires fast. I kept my S-Lites to put back on in the winter time. The problem is they are 17" and my choices are some what limited. Any suggestions? Getting rid of the S-Lites is not a option.

I have the Pirelli Wintersport 240 in 205/45-17 - the only winter tire in that size. It's ok - certainly better in the snow than an all-season for sure. My only dislike with them is there is lots of tread squirm under dry high-speed braking. They ROCK in the slush and wet

the pirelli's are expensive though. has to be a cheaper winter tire out there. the 215/45/17's should fit with no problem right? I thought you were supposed to get more sidewall with snow tires? is that false?

my Pirelli's have generous sidewall bulge - they are closer to a 215 in width Take a look at individual tire section widths to determine which is narrowest and thus cuts through the snow better

I just got Nokian Hakkepelittas, 185s on 15" R81 wheels but I think they sell 17"s.
