R56 What's a "bad/high" egt?
What's a "bad/high" egt?
Got my first real drive in after my tune. Using dash command to watch everything. The EGT seemed high. 1100's normal and 1400+ after some short pulls. ( The dashboard I was using showed it in red/orange.)
does this seem right?
I did log my drive in DC if anyone would be willing to view it and give me there opinion.
It was 30+or - deg F during my drive.
Thanks for any help.

+1600F for long time would be bad to some degree..
Your cat takes most of the abuse. Its intake temps and spark temp that you start to be concerned with, when EGT are getting real high; as those create pre-det..and can crack pistons.
WOT with mods listed and 96oct.. I see ~1620-1650 regularly in all kinds of CA weather. No issues. Now if I was at the track.. i would want lower temps (but you dont get lower, revving the sap out of it typically :p), as youre going to be driving under sustained high temps (little different from city stomping).
