Just bought a 2006 R53

So I'm totally new to this forum...found it by digging around for various searches about mini's lol...anyways just bought an 06 s, cosmic blue, manual 6 speed, no sunroof, with limited slip diff. Has 98,xxx miles. Got it for 2300. Runs decent, but I'd like to know what I need to be on the lookout for maintenance wise...I am almost positive rear main is leaking and I think I have the dual mass flywheel, knock/chatter....when I press the clutch in knock goes away completely....idk new to this I'm hoping I got a decent car....anyways love forums like these can usually find all the answers you're looking for...I do have to say...driving this thing is a blast.... definitely had a smile on my roommate and I's face. Glad you guys are here!

Congrats man. You got a great deal on it IMO, the few for sale in my area are going for double what you paid.

Did you get any kind of service history? If not, I'd suggest flushing and replacing the fluid systems, serpentine belt, rotate tires (every 5K miles anyway). Use ONLY top tier (http://www.toptiergas.com/), top octane fuel.
For the faded black fender and skirt trim: http://blackwow.com/ also available thru Amazon.
Locate a trusted local BMW/MINI service shop rather than a dealership. Indies will find problems and fix them whereas dealership shops will throw new parts at problems hoping that fixes them and charge a whole lot more.
And finally and most importantly, get out there and motor...and wave at other MINI people.

Welcome to NAM. With a little wrenching, some new fluids and a few parts (like a belt, crank sensor o-ring etc) you should have a nice car. Tin top with LSD, not too bad.

If you have not already done so suggest you check out the Stock Problems/Issues area as well as the two threads in the Gen 1 FAQ section.

Welcome and Congrats.

Great find on a Space Blue with no sunroof, awesome combo. Hope we can help you in the future with mods and parts.

Space Blue with silver. You could easily do a Checkmate tribute with that car. Great find.
