Drivetrain Now chasing 2D52 (super knock)
Now chasing 2D52 (super knock)
Ok, after chasing the boost cut ( see the other thread ) and pouring over the logs, I determined that the car’s doing what it should. However, it did throw a plausibility error on the DV itself.
Today, removed the TurboSmart entirely to switch back to the uprated Pierbergh that came with the Frankenturbo... discovered that the banjo bolt at the DV of the vacuum line was free of the DV! Sorted properly now.
And now, I’ve got the infamous super knock codes. Swapped plugs for colder (1422s... planned to do this for insurance anyway) ... still got 2d52, misfires on #2. Swapped coils, still got 2d52 but now misfires on #3.
I’m thinking it’s not the plugs, it’s not coked up (fairly new block), it’s not broken lands, it’s not a single clogged injector. It’s not making the death rattle (timing chain is new).
Maybe it’s the AFR?
Maybe I should run it with race fuel to see if the code goes away? (But won’t that increase the chance of auto ignition?)
Maybe I should run it with a little E85? (But won’t that make the AFR out of sorts?)
Maybe the super knock sensor isn’t compatible with the 9.5:1 pistons?
Maybe it’s a dirty sensor?
Maybe the MAP sensor can’t handle the boost?
Maybe it’s the tune (since it’s substantially colder now than then)?
Maybe it’s the low pressure fuel pump not getting enough fuel to the HPFP (which I just replaced)?
Any ideas?
