2012 Mini Cooper S Resale Value
I purchased a MINI Cooper S (2012 model) in Aug. 2012 for 27-28k. As per the dealership, it's resale value has now dropped to 9-10k. The dealership manager attributed this to BMW's takeover and replacement of Peugeot manufactured engines by BMW ones. Any ideas on this?
It's in mint condition with less than 48k miles on it, mostly highway (95%).

If you look at CarMax they have a few listed nationwide between 12-15K retail. So the dealer offering $9-10K isn't crazy. What you paid for it in 2012 is irrelevant.
Sell privately if you want to make that money that the dealer is making on the car. I always assume they are looking to make $3 - $5K on trades or else they wholesale or auction them off if they aren't nice easily sold cars.
