It has 98,000 miles.
Is there only one type of 2005 it could be?

Looks like an S (R53) with a JCW aero kit on it (judging from the rear bumper and side skirts)

Welcome to NAM.

Going to move you to the R53 area as that appears to the model you have. You posted in the R52 Convertible area.

Below is a link to the thread that should give you some basic information on the car.

Welcome to NAM!

I see you're in the Seattle area. I believe they have an active mini group (that is supposed to be coming down to the Portland area next weekend for a brunch). Look up PNW Miniacs

Also, maybe I should ask what's on everyone's mind - who is SHE and did you thank her?

Fan dang tastic!
Auto or manual
Service history, very important. 1st gen MINIs are not drive 'em and forget 'em grocery getters. They need paid attention to and serviced regularly. The link provided and the search engine will be super assets for you.

She is my daughter in law about to have kid #3. A caretaker that helps her with kids cannot use a manual transmission.

Clarkm,

Congrats My mother in law (lives in Seattle) has an R53, which is over years what convinced me to get mine. I got mine for a local enthusiast who just had a second grandkid and was upgrading to a brand new Mini Cooper S 4 door

FWIW, in a pinch you can fit at least 1 carseat in the back if needed to take a grandkid from here to there.

Enjoy!
