I have the Bentley MINI Cooper Service Manual for the R56 variant for the two 07's MCS hatchbacks that I have and need one for a '08 MC Cabrio (R52) that I just picked up. Knowing that there is a overlap in production years for the R52 (up to '08) with the start of the R56 hardtop in 2007, would the Bentley Manual (blue cover) be applicable to the 08 Cabriolet? - note the states '2002, 2003,2004,2005,2006'

 

the rag top stayed 'GEN1' thru 08 did it not?

so you need the blue book .. for a GEN1

the entire 'out of sync' thing for the 'verts really confuses several parts companies and I'm sure when Bentley went to press, they were unaware of the issue that was still in the future . . .

 

I will often just say I have 2006 R53 to keep the confusion down but that will not work all the time as the 07/08 have the Gen2 14mm lug bolts.

 

Thanks, guys! Bought this '08 with known low compression issue in #4 cylinder. Time to pull the head to get to the root cause!

 

The person that owned the car was probably getting their gas in either Deansboro or Kirkland. Those places have gas that leads to premature valve guide wear.

 

Can you elaborate?

The comment on the gas in Deansboro and Kirkland was a joke, but running non premium gas can lead to premature valve guide wear.
