driving about 15mph slowing down, heard a bup but clink from the passenger side front wheel, and looked back to see shiny metal in street. I backed up and retrieved it.

is it mine? 2005 r53 MT

 

I think you are ok, I have an 05 r53 totally apart in my garage, and that part doesn't come to mind, I will look and confirm when I get home, But I honestly don't think that came off your car.

 

That looks like a brake pad retainer from another type of car. Unless you have fancy Brembos or something.

 

I was thinking brakes as well. The Gen1 JCWs have "glides" (not the guide pins) on thre front but they do not look like the above.

 

I also assumed break pad retainer.
my clips are are all still on and it's braking as normal (really good) and my wear sensor indicator light is off.
