R50/53 Mini Pin Stripping
Mini Pin Stripping
Has anyone had any custom pinstripping done to their car. I'm thinking of something simple along the sides of the car. I've seen photos of origional Minis w/ a single pinstripe and thought it help add some additional character to the car.
Yep, I have a DS/W with thin white double pinstriping hand painted along each side of the car, about 2-3" below the edge of the windows. Goes from back to front, a double line ends in points...don't have a good picture right now...
not very noticeable from any distance, but I appreciate it every time I get in.
most mini drivers don't like it, not "racer" style or "true to the car", but I love it and haven't seen anybody else with 'em....

Yes, I've seen a few MINIs with pinstriping. I like it......very sharp! Our local dealer (Moritz MINI) worked with an area shop to do the work...I think they did several cars this way. The MINIs I saw had the double pinstripes like jmoser described but also had a MINI logo (in the same color as the stripe) incorporated into the stripe somewhere above the side repeaters. The logo was about 1.5 inches long. The pinstripes I saw were white on an IB and gold on a BRG. Nice touch, imo. Do it if you want to...not all MINIs have to have "racer" styling. Mine doesn't.
Re: MINI pin striping
I posted a question in exterior mods about the same subject. I saw a MINI at Niello MINI in Sacramento that had stripes just like you described. I asked the dealer where they came from. They didn't know. I spent an absurd amount of time searching the web and found just these two photos. The owner hasn't reponded to queries. Anyone know where these can be obtained?
