Caution to those that retrofitted rear fogs.

I had to have my car's software updated, yes it wiped all my coding.
What Ill warn you about is the new switch you would have installed for the rear fogs.

The dealer called me, and tells me the car is getting errors during coding. The error is in the headlamp switch and they need to order a new one.
They didn't realize that I replaced the switch to one that has a rear fog button. The car was being recoded according to my VIN. Not having rear fogs at assembly. Coding spewed out and error in the switch, yeah the additional rear fog button that shouldn't be there.

I told them to stop, and ran back to the dealer with my original switch, and coding proceeded without errors.

So if the dealer tries to code your car, and has a switch in stock, you might find yourself missing that $160 switch you bought.

pretty odd...i added/coded it myself and i've had the car recoded by the dealer a few times with no issues at all...first with the BBK retrofit and a 2nd time when it was reflashed due to an emissions issue.

You got away!!
Does your car have the LED option?

What Im trying to convey, is that if your dealer is proactive, and ordered a switch under warranty,
you'll find your new (rear fog equipped) headlamp switch in the warranty bin at the dealer.

When I installed my BBK May of last year I lost all my coding, including rear fogs. I haven't had a chance or bothered to have it recoded since then. I recently had new software installed on my car and now have a "Foglight Malfunction Warning" whenever I try to turn n my front fogs. I still have the new switch installed, but have had no problems until this most recent TSB driven software update. I have the LED lights. I have a visit with the dealer scheduled for Tuesday so I guess I'll find out if the switch is causing a problem then. Since they had the front end of my car off to replace the radiator on my last visit I assumed they had knocked some wiring loose. I guess I'll find out in a couple of days.

Maybe the tech ignored their coding error, seeing as you had a rear foglight equipped switch?
Bring your original switch with you!!

BTW, my VO was never updated to include rear fogs, was yours?

I'l have to find my old switch. Haven't seen it in a couple years.

My coding was done by Helix at MOTD a couple years ago. Tried to get the dealer to activate them after I changed the switch, but they said they couldn't do it since it wasn't listed on my build sheet.

They couldn't, because they don't know how. They can only do a one function, program the whole car at once back to factory.

It wiped all the coding you did on the car or just the fog light coding?

ALL the coding returned to factory settings.
Sirius XM FSC and activation stayed intact.
