F55/F56 My new 2018 two door.
My new 2018 two door.
Finally, after waiting forever for it to get here from England, got to pick up my first MINI on Saturday. 2018 Cooper S two door hatch in Blazing Red with black leather interior. Pretty much all of the options. Now I understand why people dig these cars. Fast and nimble with good visibility all around.
My MA didn't tell me to do anything in particular to break in the engine. Just not to wring it out for about 1000 miles.
If you can, let the oil circulate for 30 seconds to minute before driving away cold.
If you can spare the time, leave the engine idle for a minute, when you get home from a spirited drive.
Does the 2018 have sat nav? Is it touchscreen? I am considering ordering a JCW but am on the fence.

My wife is a realtor and has the navigation. When she has taken clients out to look at houses, they pull up the nav on the phone in a fraction of the time of her entering it into the MINI system. It is beyond awful in comparison. Waste of money for her.
But she doesn't have to stare at her phone while following the navigation.
Wife wants to sell the car just because of that.
Those leather seats are gorgeous and look great with the red.
I'm at 11,000 miles on my BRG 16 Cooper S. I have a huge smile on my face every time I go into the garage and fire her up.
I let the RPM dip below 1,000 before I pull out, which takes maybe 30 seconds, before I pull out of the garage.
As for the Nav, I love it. Yes, pulling up directions on the phone is quicker, but with the HUD, I can always see how far away any turns are, etc. We have a strict no phones while driving rule in WA state and the Nav solves the issue for me. Once the directions are programmed in, I find the Nav is excellent. I also find the detours given when traffic gets kinky are spot on. Also, I can turn off the voice if I don't want it overriding my news/music.
In summary, the 3rd gen MINIs are the most sorted out, and I've owned every generation.

I bought a SRT challenger last year, and kept kicking myself that is wasn't a hellcat! so, I sold it!..
I don't think you will ever say I wish I bought an S owning a JCW, but you might say I wish I got a JCW if you own a S...
Remember these gen 3 cars were first built as a JCW, Then came the other models to follow.
All the R&D was sorted out with the JCW. Not the opposite IE: first engineered the base, S, etc, Like most manufactures.
