Ideas for new horn

So quick story I was honking at a dear at the side of the road and while I was beeping one of the horns died and now it sounds like a baby horn and I have no presence on the road (was cut off and ashamed of the horn.) So I want actual ideas of what kind of horn can easily replace the ones in the car..I could go stock but maybe want to try something different if you know what I mean.

Thanks

There are many after market horns. Probably not plug and play. I neighbor of mine got some horns that he called "Ralley spec" horns that he said were rated at 135db. I took all of that I took with a gain of salt. They were red and they were louder than a normal horn. How much louder I cannot be certain. I am certain one of the vendors will chime in soon. Happy honking!

Hella like these

https://www.griotsgarage.com/product...e=&from=Search

are loud and altho not a complete 'plug' replacement the wiring is easy. Cut off the factory connector and connect two wires. A hot and a ground. The kit linked includes a relay but the MINI already has a relay in the horn circuit so you can skip this.

Note you have two horns, one on each side, Down near the parking lights ..... either take off the bumper cover or pull the wheel well liner. these are a tight fit but you can do it ..... I have these on my 79

Harbor Freight has a knock off ....

We install aftermarket Hella horns all the time, even have them on my car as they are much cheaper, and so much louder. People actually get out of the way with Hellas. You can just cut the stock connectors, or T into the wires for the original horns and plug these in with standard connectors.

Well I do not want to cut the connectors off as i want to keep everything that original on there but wouldnt mind these or the other hellas that are the trumpet as long as the fit and I was wondering could I take apart the connecter on the actual stock horn and plug it back into where it goes normally then run wires from that into the aftermarket...hope that makes sense.

I take apart my bad horn this weekend and see what I can do with them
Thanks looks like hellas are the way to go....Still think a train horn might be funny on a smaller car. or musical.

I put the 1960's 4-Note Cadillac Horns on all of my vehicles. They use a lot of power, so you need a relay to the battery and it can be tricky to find a spot for 4 horns...But WOW. They sound serious and we love them.

Don't the subaru guys do this all the time? I thought horn modding was a thing for them?

I just have a subaru friend who had mentioned it before. From that, I only mentioned that if you search the subaru boards you might be able to find some detailed information on aftermarket horns.

on my 79 I have a switch

usually my horns are set to the HELLA I mention

toss the switch and connect to a set of 5 air horns

they play a bar of the Colonel Bogey March

most associated with the movie Bridge over the River Kwai
