CEL Engine Coolant Temperature

Thursday I got a CEL and checked the codes. I got:
  • P2F07 (Thermostat Mech Error)
  • P0128 (Coolant Temp Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature)
  • P2F1A (Temp Sensor Signal Min)
  • P2F22 (Engine Temp Check Min)
I cleared the codes with my Accessport. Friday I got a CEL and checked the codes. I got:
  • P0117 (Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Low Input)
  • P112B (Engine Coolant Temperature Too Low)
  • P2F1A (Temp Sensor Signal Min)
  • P2F22 (Engine Temp Check Min)
I cleared the codes with my Accessport. I have yet to get a CEL since.

I took my car to an independent dealer and they found nothing wrong. I'm thinking the sensor in the thermostat is going bad. I had the whole thermostat and sensor replaced last August, failure seems premature. What says you?

With those codes I'd start by replacing the thermostat first as they are very common to fail with these codes

The thermostat is doing it's job, according to the my obdII connected water temp gauge. The temp sits at 215* (warmed up) unless I run Max A/C, then it drops to 185*. When the CEL last went off my water temp gauge swept from 215* to 110* (or 0) and back to 215*.

Mine has been doing the same exact thing (temp gauge sweep to zero and back) since replacement of the thermostat. I too get P0117 and the P0128 errors. Have a replacement thermostat coming and will swap out this weekend. Hopefully this fixes it.

Any update or resolution on this? I get P0117 and P112B errors following a thermostat housing replacement.

Would love to hear how you solved your problem!

It solved itself. The water pipe was leaking and I probably had an air bubble. On the way to the shop the thermostat split at the seam. Total replacement and no problems since. The shop that put the part on apparently used a non oem part and failed prematurely.
