My wife needs a bike rack for her 2016 Cooper S 4-door. She can't lift her bike onto the roof and I don't want to use ones the contraptions that sit on the rear hatch with straps. I don't trust them.

I see that MINI offers a rack that slides into the row hooks in the rear bumper but that costs more than the bike does.

Any Ideas?

is still less than half the price of the mini rack the 2nd part can be substituted with something better or worse.
