Brought it Home !!!!! 2017 JCW

Thanks for the encouragement in helping me decide to do this! LOVE IT. You guys weren't lying about this car. It's terrifically fast in any gear from any speed. Good for an old man, ha ha. No worse of a ride than my 2015 Justa with Sport Package, despite not having dynamic dampers. Gearbox a bit notchier and definitely close ratio.

Only bad thing is MINI will not cover brakes or clutch repair/replacement under warranty, so dealer pushes hard for maintenance plans. Repairs are steep-got me thinking. Take my chances???

Better change my sig! Ah, just did it.

Nice!

Number crunch maintenance plan. I'm a self financier so I never buy the plan, except for dishwasher which always break on me.

Very nice JCW. Love the side stripes.

How long are you planning on keeping the car/how many miles do you drive a year? The JCW brakes are not cheap, and to put things in perspective, a full rotor/pad/fluid brake job costs about $1200 for both axles at my dealer on a non-JCW.

The Maintenance + upgrade should be between $600 and $800 for you to buy. It's a significant savings, especially if you don't do your own wrenching.

Great looking car .... hope you love it as much as I do mine. I agree the packages are reasonably priced, but a lot depends on how you drive. Personally, I normally get a lot of miles on my brakes (they are way over rated) ... however, if you drive in an environment that demands a lot of braking (e.g., city driving), it is worth it.

I think I can live with the side stripes--car was on lot for 4-5 months so getting them off might be difficult + fading?. I tend to keep 2-3 years and won't be tracking/racing it. Maybe 20,000 miles in 2 years. They were talking plans that were 84 months/50,000 miles, which is a lcertainly short in miles for 7 years! Plus all plan outlines said "...pays cost of parts and labor for covered repairs", which makes it sound like a Hendricks Auto Warranty that won't cover what's not covered by factory. If it were just $600-800 I'd go for it. I'll check my local dealer to get the sales pitch.

Very nice car. Congrats

Debating a JCW or a MCS DCT automatic w/ the JCW tune for my 2018 trade.

Would definitely go w/ the body stripe as you did.

That doesn't sound like the MINI Maintenance upgrade to me, sounds more like a warranty.

Not unless you purchase their upgrade package.

I turned it down ... I normally get a lot of miles on brakes. Most likely, my pads/rotors will last well beyond the warranty package.

I don't think they're covered under any Mini maintenance program, they're considered like tires, they normally wear out. I think the clutch is covered if something unexpected goes wrong with it, not normal wear and tear. Brakes too if it's something defective. I did my 2007 MCS front brakes at about 50k miles for about $500 and had to do the master cylinder too. The rears were still good when I traded it in at 70k.

Makes that much of a change? After my 3 pot Justa, this thing feels stupid fast and too low geared (final ratio). 1st gear runs out too soon as it is now I need taller gears if I go with DINAN or I'll be starting in 2nd!

I just checked with MINI USA. In order to keep the warranty valid, all red MINI's must, after the initial break-in period, have a sport tuning box installed

Best 300 bucks you'll ever spend on a mod.

Well in that case! What would everyone suggest?

It is $300 well spent. If you don't like it you can easily resell on NAM for a minimal loss.

First thing should be a piggyback tuner as the upgrade, easy to install, plug and play. Congrats on the new JCW.

Starting in 2017, brakes are no longer covered as part of any basic MINI Maintenance program. Also included in the exclusions are wiper blades and clutches.
