Why this is not standard on the Mini is beyond me. BMW has it, why not MINI? Cost of the "beeper"? For what they charge for a mini and the options, they should throw the "beeper" in (or at least include it in one of the packages like comfort access.....sheesh)
umberto - Great Job & Thanks for the INFO!
Now I don't have to pull on the door to make sure it is locked
Mini certainly cheaped out on this feature that today's many other cars (or even some of the 80's) have it.
If Mini wants to stand out from competition or even want to be on par with others, they'd better equip their cars with features as simple, useful and essential as this.

1. Great idea
2. MINI surely should included this.
3. Really not all that difficult to look at the door button go down. Slow down folks and take a breath. I do notice how people like to walk 20 feet away from the car and then lock it, why?

Years ago a cultural anthropologist studied truck drivers at truck stops. Almost invariably, after locking their rigs and walking away, truckers would stop, turn back toward their rigs, and then turn back and head off to the truck stop store or diner or wherever they were headed.
Almost every time I catch myself doing the truck stop behavior, which is almost EVERY TIME I lock my car and start to walk away, I have a little smiley moment and think about the truckers and the anthropologist (who probably got a PhD out of that research).
I muted the audible confirmation on my Clubman -- I just watch for the flashing lights and note the red flasher under the rear view, whether I can hear the solid thunk of the locks or not. Any excuse to take a few steps away, turn around, and admire my MINI.
