Radio question.

Ok I have a 2011 mcs. And it had the boosted CD Harmon kardon system in it. I was told that is the upgraded system? I'm not an audio guy what makes it upgraded? Just better speakers? My next question is I retro fit oem nav into the car so I ended up using a headed unit out of a 2011 mini. I can't remember if it was a s, I have the vin so I can get all the info on it if needed. My question is cars with nav are there upgraded versions of the head unit or are they all the same since they have the "nav" "maps" built into the head unit? Just trying to see if when I did this retro if I went down in audio quality. Thanks!

Yes, HK was the audio upgrade. We have it in our 2012 MCS. Besides the upgraded speakers (and the two extra up front in the windshield pillars), there is a hidden amp in the back..

Thanks, do you know if there is going to be a big difference between the new head unit I got out of the doner car and my original head unit?

Good question, really don't know for sure. Off hand, I would say it would be a problem if the new head unit does not have the proper output for the amp in the rear..

To me there isn't a difference in sound quality but then again I'm not a real big audio guy so I don't have the ear for it. It also doesn't mean that the radio doesn't have the correct output I might have to just pull that new radio out and then try to get some info off of it.

HK and non-HK use the same headunit. The HK changes are all downstream from the headunit,

Doesn't matter. The HK system is separate from the headunit and doesn't care whether headunit is Nav or not.
