Dear thankful y'll,

My MCS 04 do not have Xenon Headlights. Could I separately buy and install them aftermarket? I asked the dealer that they said " NO, they are only come from factory" Also the foglights is costing me $1000 to install them up :-(

I've just purchased 04 mini cooper S model in the late of June. Luckily I didn't have to wait for 10 months waiting list because there was a wanna be my mini available at the moment so I bought. Anyway, the car came with only Premium package and what I need was to add Sport package so they couldn't. Any idea to get my car install xenon headlights? would that be awesome to get those 04 or even 05 xenon headlights put on my car?. HELP me please.

Motoringfile.com saya that the lights are retrofittable and Mini has a kit to do so. Price is probably an issue, though.

 

If there is a retrofit kit then you could just look for the used xenon headlights and ballasts. It's two screws or something like that to remove from the bonnet. I saw a set advertised locally a while back and the seller was asking $250 for both sides complete. You should be able to do the same or you could cruise the wrecking yards over the internet and you might get lucky.

Send an e-mail to the fellow on ebay to see if the headlights are complete and then call the mini parts guy and see what is needed to get your car headlights retrofited. Maybe, someone local with xenons can pop open the bonnet and you can compare yours with his/hers.

the headlight retrofit kit mentioned in motoringfile is for retrofitting 05 headlights onto earlier cars. It said nothing about retrofitting xenons to non-xenon cars.

To make xenon lights fully functional, you will also need level sensors on your strut, headlight washer tank, plumbing, and associated wiring. Finally you will also need your dealer to re-code it. It is doable, but it is not a simple job, and it may be cost prohibitive.

 

Are the washers for the headlights necessary? What would the dealer need to recode?

 

Bad news guys, I spoke with one the tech guys in LongBeach MINI where I bought my MCS so he says that either me or the dealter can't do that considering modification. He said after market--maybe they'll do though--for some reason I don't want to do it after market which it will cause the warantee. Well, I guess I'm going to use my non-xenon :-) which I'm not happy about it :-(

I'd go with the 4000k bulbs. The 8000K are a deeper blue but, will not project out as far as the 4000 bulbs. Bottom line, do you want to look cool or, beable to see where your going.

Also, questions!, if I had a used xenon headlights from MCS 04 installled on my non-xenon headlights which I don't care with self-leveling and the washers. Can I do that? I live in LongBeach LA, Ca. Which shop would you prefer? that also causes the warrantee from the MINI? I'm so dump with these things Any idea guys?

Dealers are always going to say that things can't be done. I bet if you were to find a wrecked MC or MCS with xenonsthat had been hit from behind (depending on what model you have), and just take the entire hood assembly and switch it with your car, it would not be all that complicated to hook up the washer reservoir or reprogram the computer. The trick, as always, is finding the parts in an affordable manner.

 

I now have a pair of 04 xenon headlights :smile: so what I should do next? I'd appreciate with all ideas and opinions

First thing I would do is get an electrical manual that shows the wiring diagram for the car. I assume that the headlight uckets are a simple switch out. Its actually the washers that are the big deal to install, since this requires a hose, reservoir, and a second electrical connection. You should obviously try to get the lights working first, then tackle the washers. Find someone with Xenons that were factory installed and take some pictures of how they are connected with a digital camera for reference. I would not be shocked if when you exchange the buckets, it is a simple plug-in to get the light part working.

 

Hi there, I would really love to know which aftermarket HID kit u r using? and if u had to do any modifications to get the HID bulb to fit?

I hear HID bulbs are too long to fit in the halogen light housing, there is a cap inside that blocks its path
