Crossover placement front of R53?

Looking to upgrade my front lower woofers and upper tweeters in my R53 with the JBL GX600C component speaker system which comes with a crossover for the tweeter. I went through a great thread on this but the pictures are no longer available for some reason. Does anyone know the best spot to mount the crossover in the door? I'm also enlarging the speaker size to 6.5" instead of the 5 1/4". And I believe I need to purchase the 1" spacer speaker adapter to get it to fit, would it be easier just to mount it to the door panel instead with a bracket? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you

I'd not put the crossovers inside the door cavity as it can get very damp
inside.
I left my crossovers inside the car and just routed the wire from the crossover through the plug connector in the door jamb.
It's a fiddly job, but it's the best way of doing it.

The crossover can be mounted to the door as long as it clears the interior door panel. This way it's not sitting in the door cavity, but between the interior door metal door skin and the plastic door panel. There is a spot where it just fits next to the woofer and clears the panel pin holes.

For the Polks we installed, the 6.5 woofer mounted straight to the door using just the Polk mount ring. No holes were drilled and woofer fit perfectly.

crossover dry spot

This is where I have mine. No moisture problem after 11 years. I considered putting them in the cabin but decided routing the additional wires is just not worth the trouble if I could find a dry spot.

More information here.

This is where ended up mounting mine. I found there was more space at the rear lower portion of the door, between the panel and sheet metal. If you are considering a component set, DO IT! Unbelievable difference than the pioneers and factory tweeters that were in there before. I can actually hear the stereo while driving now.
