Working on a friends Mini
I am currently doing a small stereo upgrade for a close friend. Joined to ask about the front speaker impedances on a 2012 CM non HK. He does not want to upgrade the head unit or add an amp for mids/highs so I am looking for a budget friendly speaker swap for it.
I'm moving this the Gen2 Radio/Nav folder. If you have not already done so may I suggest that you check out the that folder as there are over 1,600 threads on radios and nav systems there. You may find what you are looking for.
And, welcome to NAM.

Is there going to be a difference in the R60 as far as impedance, and doing the front/rear swap for the speaker inputs?

Just measure the old speakers. You can use a multimeter to estimate the impedance.
Typically, the resistance reading should be roughly 15% less than the nominal impedance on the label. For example, it's normal for an 8-ohm speaker to have a resistance between 6 or 7 ohms.
The majority of loudspeakers have a nominal impedance of 4, 8, or 16 ohms. Unless you get a strange result, it's safe to assume your speaker has one of these impedance values for the purpose of pairing it with an amplifier.

Looks like his front doors only have one 4" full range. Does anyone know if this model has the front and rear that should be swapped? Trying to figure out if I should tap into the front or rear for the LC2I.
I have a 2012 that I installed some inexpensive speakers in the doors for awhile before doing my full stereo install.
For the lower part of the door, I used Rockford Fosgate R165X3 3-way 6.5" coaxials.
For the upper "pods", I used Rockford Fosgate R14X2 4" 2-ways. I used (3) of the tabs on the speaker & just bent the 4th one into the surround near the door handle arm....if that makes sense.
Both sounded pretty good (& ALOT better than stock), but I've since taken everything out & done a full system install :D

btw....to answer your original question, if you look at my install thread....post #5...the pic shows the factory speaker & it says "4 ohm" ;-)
