Drivetrain An Alternate Lightweight Flywheel/Clutch Combo
An Alternate Lightweight Flywheel/Clutch Combo
A little background on what I'm hoping to do: I have an R50 with the 6-speed manual conversion. It currently has the Valeo single-mass conversion clutch/flywheel, and while it works well, on the R50, I've always found it to be pretty sluggish (The stock R50 clutch/flywheel combo is 10 lbs. lighter afterall!) I'm hoping to someday replace the Valeo kit with a setup that would be closer to a stock R50 setup.
Given its a base Cooper, a lot of the aftermarket setups are just way overkill in clamping force (and expensive too). After searching around, here's what I'm thinking would work well:
My thought is I'm keeping the OEM pressure plate, so it should feel close to stock, but taking weight off with the flywheel and adding the spring hub clutch disk which should get me pretty close to what the stock R50 setup would be. What do you think?

- ACT Lightweight Steel Flywheel
- Luk Clutch Pressure Plate (but not the clutch disk)
- ACT Spring Hub Clutch Disk (any other good spring hub clutch disks that could work?)
