Possible Delayed Pickup Question

My 2017 MCS is waiting at the docks to be picked up tomorrow for its voyage to the west coast. It's ETA is May 5th. I'm having the JCW tuning kit installed at the VDC which will delay it for a few days. My Motoring Advisor just informed me that he will be on vacation from May 12-24. If my car doesn't make it to the dealership before he leaves, he wants me to wait till he's back for pickup. My question is, if I have to wait an extra almost two weeks for my car, am I out of line asking for more money off? Has anyone encountered this before?

I would not wait, what kind of customer service is that? If you want to wait absolutely ask for $$$.

Just tell him you are too anxious to wait, you'll send him pictures.

I know how a customer can bond with their MA....I gave my MA two 6 packs of German beer when I picked up my JCW....but asking you to wait about 2 weeks until he returns from vacation???? That wouldn't work for me, and sorry but your MA is not my kind of guy!!! He "should" have the Sales Manager or another MA cover for him!!! He's being selfish & he's worried about his customer rating....he doesn't want to share it with anybody. Don't expect $$$ off but expect good customer service! Demand that someone else watch over your new baby until it is safely in your hands! Oh, and wash & detail the car yourself! Examine it upon pickup to make sure everything is proper....especially if your MA won't be there to oversee things! Good Luck!

MY question is, what is THE REASON your MA has given you for waiting? Is your MA concerned that you won't have a good delivery experience if your MA doesn't oversee it? Is your MA not wanting to share commission $? Is it about CSI survey fears?

From the dealer's viewpoint, it makes no sense to wait. Dealerships want to move metal, which means delivering cars ASAP.

But, I would give your MA an opportunity to explain the reasoning and then adjust your plans according to the information your MA provides.

The only reason he has given is he wants things to go smoothly for me.

Well, you want things to go smoothly as well. I would ask for specific concerns he has about a smooth delivery in his absence.

Whatever he says, I would counter with something along the lines of, "If the delivery goes as smoothly as we all hope it will, I'm looking forward to giving all top ratings on the survey. MAYBE WE SHOULD HAVE A CHAT WITH YOUR MANAGER TO MAKE SURE I HAVE A SATISFYING DELIVERY EXPERIENCE WHETHER YOU'RE HERE TO DO IT OR NOT."

For some reason, my B.S. detector is going off here.

I have an incoming F54 on a ship right now; if my MA wanted to delay pickup for his vacation, I'd politely let him know that, after weeks of waiting for the vehicle to be manufactured and shipped, I have no interest in waiting up to two weeks more simply because he's taking personal vacation time. There should be any number of folks at the dealership, including the manager, who can step in to make sure the vehicle's delivery into your hands goes just fine.

His stated reason does have a certain B.S. ring to it. So I'd tell him to enjoy his vacation while you're enjoying picking up your long-awaited vehicle...

I am with everyone else, tell your MA to have a nice trip and find out who will take their place for delivery in their absence...no reason for you to wait, IMHO. If he/she can't give a straight answer, have a chat with the SM (Sales Manager) and get things set for your delivery.

Heck, my original MA left the dealership mid-stream with me and the SM took up the reigns immediately and smoothly handed me over to a new MA that did great. I thought they handled the situation very well and no interruption in my tracking quest either...hence they all got 10's from me.

Thanks for all the replies! When my car gets to the port my MA and I will have a talk and I'll demand my car with or without him.
