Welcome to the madness... just a bit of housekeeping. You have posted your question in the Gen 1 forum and your car (as an 09) is actually considered a "Second Gen" Mini which is likely why you have not gotten a response yet. You may try posting in the Gen 2 forum for a better response.
That said, I think it is unlikely that it would be a simple plug and play exercise (because little is on these cars) but as the 09 and 12 are the same generation, it might be possible (especially if you have expertise.) Again, I am a Gen 1 guy so I am already well out of my element here but worth asking on the other forum. Good luck
